I said “I know,” but knew I never did I knew so little of things I thought I wanted We traveled late one night down to the coast Oil refineries burned with a cherry glow We saw the surf moving roughly in the moonlight It started storming and raining on that fateful night As a violent wind began to howl and moan We saw the faded sign so we pulled in off the road I said it looked like some place a ghost would haunt It was a pretty sad seaside restaurant That woozy smell of vinegar and grease Delicious fish and chips and salty margarita drinks The waiter rushed up and smiled, he thanked us heartily He was just happy that someone had come in to eat The wind was restless. I stuttered nervously Her eyes kept telling--by now she knew something She turned to me and said: “what’s going on?” I told her that I was fine, just feeling high-strung But then I knew I could no longer lie Yes, all at once, I just broke down and cried I said I didn’t love her; I said I’m sorry I said I’m sorry for wasting your time darling I felt so ill inside I wanted to leave No thought of pleasure, no, I only felt guilty We made our way back out to the car I had to ask her before we got very far She looked indifferent, she didn’t care Did it matter what I told her in there? She only shrugged; lit up a cigarette “I don’t expect you to understand” she said “I knew that fire would always burn my hand” “I knew the risk when I dated a younger man.”

Barry Lyndon 03:28
I’m sailing in uncharted seas I’m moving toward obscure boundaries Already, I can hardly breathe And our chairs are only touching In the desert, in a trance I stagger blindly for your hand Searching for the words to say To make you come around my way If I seem somewhat unsteady Maybe my heart’s too top heavy But I know that we can fix this And make these muddled words a sentence I want to make you so, so happy Make you knock your socks off laughing Your momma saw but made no mention Of our flirting in the kitchen Can we blend ice cubes and berries? Can you try not to compare me? I thought that you had learned your lesson You know, I’m not like Barry Lyndon With this brush we’ll paint a picture With our love we’ll add the texture Along the shoreline The water dances at our feet, the waves rush up onto the beach But all I notice is your eyes As we walked we made confessions Passing by Seven/Eleven She ran in to buy a Maxi While I tried to flag down a taxi But every time they’d only pass me She comes out and smiles at me “I couldn’t get one, they wouldn’t listen” Carry that weight Barry Lyndon

About that time, words can’t define You came outside, you looked divine Your hair was moving in the breeze, standing by the apple tree And we were coming down the hill, right above the soccer fields In the arena of love, the gladiator’s dashing The lady looks but her husband’s watching And I told you this would come about When the cuteness all runs out What seemed so new and exciting, was really just a false feeling Excitement spurred, a passion burned We chose our site for a fortnight At your parents’ house by ten, we were quiet sneaking in; Driving around in the dark, looking for a place to park We’re of sane minds, but we’re acting crazy So Indiscreet, have we gotten lazy? Evacuate, darling please, it’s time to leave Eject my seat, when you push the red button And I told you this would come about When the cuteness all runs out What seemed so warm and breathtaking, was truly just a false feeling And I wish your boyfriend was an ass But he doesn’t seem so bad And we feel guilty for a lie we keep trying to justify So I won’t be here tonight And I won’t be there tomorrow This is the last time, this is the last time This is the last time I swear I can’t see you anymore I swear I won’t see you anymore

Thailand 03:58
I saw you leave Heard you laugh and say you’re learning Taiwanese You say some people run away from some things You say you’ll travel alone across the globe, where nobody knows You’re always searching for something you think will make you free Well they say those Eastern stars Can predict your fate, show you who you are Reveal the unknown mysteries And they say the mountains climb high, reach through the clouds up into the sky And it’s the most beautiful place underneath heaven I see the redness in your cheeks I know you’re holding back the tears on the brink Well the windows were foggy that night And when you awoke you were surprised In Thailand everyone speaks Thai So take a breath of fresh air, and let the sunlight brighten your hair And when it gets hard to contend Know that Jesus still loves you even in Thailand And I see the redness in your cheeks I know you’re fighting back the tears on the brink And I see the worry written on your face I know you’re tired of standing on your feet all day

Oogle Eyes 03:25
Katie, can’t wait to taste your love Put my finger in your pie Everybody here got those oogle eyes, and so do I And sing a little song around Mount Sinai Katie, won’t you pinch me cause I’m hypnotized And everything I once believed suddenly I could easily leave Katie, you make my knees feel weak I like the funny face when you laugh at me And those cell phone towers lookout where pioneers Once saw what we see standing underneath So sing a little song to make your mind up Katie, you’re the apple of my oogle eyes You control the rhythm like the tribal queen So shake your bones and move your feet Katie, know my heart’s on the window sill And you can have a piece if you think it’s real And when it haunts your curiosity like a burning tree You will be pleased So sing another song around Mount Sinai Katie, won’t you pitch me scratch I’m hypnotized And lead me down before regret Pull me down to the torn carpet

Early in the morning you get down Dry your hair in the warm sun Moving through the eastern wind Got your voodoo plan already workin It’s really workin on this man And you know sometimes you’re funny. Then sometimes you get low-down Sometimes you mumble your words and like to lay around But you never sink to what’s below your creed And soon we’re laughing, moving up the street And you’re wearing your midori sage. You start to bloom in a perfect way And we escape under a dusky moon We slip into this jungle un-pursued Babe, it’s no elementary love Got so much to speak of Girl, it’s so easy to deduct /deduce I think we may fall in love Ever since we met I felt a synchronization The wind and water have new translation I wanna run where the river flows Into the village where the natives know How your soul is breezy but your love is warm The Feng-shui is sweet like a honey-bun Blood temple diamonds and rubies, every brilliant jade Next to you they can only fade Girl, there’s no woman like you no It’s so hard to control Someday the sun will dry this clay And we’ll give thanks to God each day I won’t forget to speak, to give you all you need I’ll love your lovin’ everyday
